In 1940 Valdespino, best known for their amazing range of sherry, imported some top quality Cuban rum and aged it in American oak casks to be further established into a very old and limited solero system. It began as an experiment and was ageing away in a corner of the bodega until rediscovered by the new owners in 1999.
The solero has since been topped up with 70% Panamanian and 30% Dominican Republic rums and aged in very old Oloroso casks. The result is this beautiful rum, full of nutty, citrus notes, burnt sugar, coconut and mocha. An absolute delight and £75 well spent!
Hand made in Wittersham (Kent/Sussex border) by our mad Kiwi mate John and butcher Ian. We've got a range of delicious saucisson, beer sticks (posh pepparami) and cured meats, all perfect with a glass of decent vino
